There's no crying in baseball...

I have been so very emotional lately, you look at me wrong and I start to cry (unfortunately this has been happening at work lately, and I work in a law office)...this reminds me of a funny that happened yesterday at work....I was not having that great of a day (although it was Friday) and was getting "constructive criticism" (yeah right, rolling eyes) from my boss for hours on end, and I couldn't help it, the water works started (thankfully once he left for lunch) once I got a moment to myself in the restroom....I guess that is what I needed cuz I began to feel somewhat better...I washed my face, dried my eyes, and went back to work...one of my co-workers came in to check on me since I was so quiet...asked me some questions work-related and those darned tears started again...so what does she do...well have you seen the movie League of Their Own (Geena Davis, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Tom Hanks, to name a few of the big names), this is a story where women get to play professional baseball during wartime...anyway Tom Hanks has this one line in that movie which cracks me up...."There's no crying in baseball".....that is what my co-worker tells me (now mind you, she doesn't know this is one of my all-time fav movies...although it makes me cry too...wow, I must be a real weepy kinda gal now that I think about it....), so I can't help but laugh at this....it did the trick...

Then I wonder why I am feeling so emotional, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the wait extending and extending....everyone posting about what Rumor Queen says (something about the possibility of not getting our Chynna til 2010), and I know my Aunt Flo isn't visiting soon (just happened) so PMS is ruled out...what could it be??? Well it is then that I see what it probably is....tonite is the full moon!! Now that explains everything....I always get weepy when the moon gets full...yeah that's my story, I'm sticking with that....just remember when the moon gets full tell the ones you love "there's no crying in baseball" and everything will get better instantly....

when i grow up...

I've been reading some of my fav blogs' posts recently and it got me thinking back to my childhood....such wonderful memories, great parents, fun-seeking (if that's really a word, hehe) siblings, and adventurous neighborhood friends. But there is one thing that tickles me when I think back to it....the question all adults ask children as they are growing up, answers to which change all the time...the question of "what do you want to be when you grow up?"....

the answers children give varies, you know answers like a policeman, fireman, princess, or even tall (okay I admit I wanted to be tall when I grew up, guess I'm still waiting on that one, hehe), but I remember my mom asking me this question and my steadfast answer (nope didn't want to be a frog, hehe) was....

an applesauce maker....I don't know why but I did....I would think about all the ways I could make the applesauce, and I remember thinking about picking apples (now remember I have lived in Fla all my life, and nope I have never, and still to this day, seen an apple tree nor picked apples, but we had orange and tangerine trees so I could visualize this) and then thought I had to get these hard apples to be mushy so the obvious thing to do...step on them with your bare feet (oh and you had to have clean feet, otherwise this would have been gross, hehe) til they were good and mushy and then put the mush in bowls and serve it up...viola applesauce for one and all...mmmm good (guess I had heard or seen the thing about making wine by stepping on grapes, hehe)...nope I never did become an applesauce maker (obviously), but it still tickles me to remember how much thought I put into this career goal....

(nope not a picture of me as a child, I just thought she looked like how I pictured an applesauce maker, hehe)...anyone up for some toe jam applesauce???

what about you...what fun career goals did you set for yourself as a child?

Wacky Wednesday (what kind of shoe are you?)

You are Barefoot!

You're a total free spirit, go with the flow girl
You can't be restricted by shoes for very long
And unsuprisingly, the same goes for men
Your match is out there - and he's as carefree as you are

Yup this fits me pretty well, I hate to wear shoes that are confining, and no shoes is okay with me...

Some birthday love....

I had a great birthday, lots of great pressies, terrific cards, and great food, thanks everyone....

Yesterday I came home from a really crappy day at work and found this package waiting for me from Dawn, Lily, and Jacob I rushed to open it...

such beautiful wrapping, a great card, and it said it was fragile....

I carefully opened the card and the bigger one first, and revealed this wonderful photo frame...

then I saw written on the smaller one, "fragile" all over the wrapping, so I opened it really carefully....and this is what was "fragile" (yup Lily I agree it is fragile)....this immediately went on display on my fridge...

Then Freckles and Ray celebrated...

Thanks everyone for making my birthday (and the day after) really special!!!

Hope you do not have a jellyfish day...

I got this in an email, and it just had me crying I was laughing so hard...okay it's true I have a sick sense of humor, but hey...it was worth sharing...enjoy....

Rob is a commercial saturation diver for Global Divers in Louisiana. He performs underwater repairs on offshore drilling rigs. Below is an E-mail he sent to his sister. She then sent it to radio station 103.2 on FM dial in Ft. Wayne, Indiana , who was sponsoring a worst job experience contest. Needless to say, she won.

Hi Sis,

Just another note from your bottom-dwelling brother. Last week I had a bad day at the office. I know you've been feeling down lately at work, so I thought I would share my dilemma with you to make you realize it's not so bad after all.

Before I can tell you what happened to me, I first must bore you with a few technicalities of my job. As you know, my office lies at the bottom of the sea. I wear a suit to the office. It's a wet suit. This time of the year the water is quite cool. So, what we do to keep warm is this:

We have a diesel powered industrial water heater. This $20,000 piece of equipment sucks the water out of the sea. It heats it to a delightful temperature. It then pumps it down to the diver through a garden hose, which, is taped to the air hose.

Now this sounds like a darn good plan, and I've used it several time with no complaints.

What I do, when I get to the bottom and start working, is take the hose and stuff it down the back of my wet suit. This floods my whole suit with warm water. It's like working in a Jacuzzi.

Everything was going well until all of a sudden, my butt started to itch.

So, of course, I scratched it. This only made things worse. Within a few seconds, my butt started to burn. I pulled the hose out from my back, but the damage was done. In agony, I realized what had happened. The hot water machine had sucked up a jellyfish and pumped it into my suit. Now since, I don't have any hair on my back, the jellyfish couldn't stick to it.

However, the crack of my butt was not as fortunate. When I scratched what I thought was an itch, I was actually grinding the jellyfish into the crack of my butt. I informed the dive supervisor of my dilemma over the communicator. His instructions were unclear due to the fact that he, along with five other divers, were all laughing
hysterically.

Needless to say I aborted the dive. I was instructed to make three agonizing in-water decompression stops totaling thirty-five minutes before I could reach the surface to begin my chamber dry decompression.

When I arrived at the surface, I was wearing nothing but my brass helmet.

As I climbed out of the water, the medic, with tears of laughter running down his face, handed me a tube of cream and told me to rub it on my butt as soon as I got in the chamber. The cream put the fire out, but I couldn't poop for two days because my butt was swollen shut.

So, next time you're having a bad day at work, think about how much worse it would be if you had a jellyfish shoved up your butt. Now repeat to yourself, "I love my job, I love my job, I love my job."

Now whenever you have had a bad day, ask yourself, is this a jellyfish bad day?

May you NEVER have a jellyfish bad day!!!!!

Cool luggage from Aunt Sue

"Aunt Sue" strikes again....look at this cool "luggage" set she got Chynna (Freckles just had to get in the picture, and since he was requested to be in more pictures)...

It's a pulley piece of ladybug luggage, and inside it are a medium and tiny small ladybug backpack!!!

Aunt Sue said she saw this at Costco and just had to get it for Chynna for her to lug her toys around in....thanks again Aunt Sue, now if only the CCAA would hurry up....Chynna's luggage is ready!!

Happy Saturday...have a laugh on me....

A woman went to her doctor. The doctor, after an examination, sighed and said, "I've some bad news. You have cancer, and you'd best put your affairs in order."

The woman was shocked, but managed to compose herself and walk into the waiting room where her daughter had been waiting. "Well daughter, we women celebrate when things are good, and we celebrate when things don't go well. In this case, things aren't well. I have cancer. Let's head to the club and have a martini."

After 3 or 4 martinis, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and more martinis. They were eventually approached by some of the woman's old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. The woman told her friends they were drinking to her impending end.

"I have been diagnosed with AIDS." The friends gave the woman their condolences, and they had a couple of more martinis.

After the friends left, the woman's daughter leaned over and whispered, "Momma, I thought you said you were dying of cancer, and you just told your friends you were dying of AIDS."

The woman said, "I don't want any of those beetches sleeping with your father after I'm gone."

A frog drawing pick-me-up

Just when I needed that "pick-me-up", Tundrachica had posted on her blog a few days ago (and I somehow missed it) this terrific drawing her son had drawn....and the funny/ironic thing about it, he drew it the same night the frog jumped on my window and gave me the "heart attack".

This is what she says about this terrific drawing:

"This picture, as I was told by the artist, represents him looking into an aquarium with a frog in it. It is hard to see on the pic but he has colored all around the frog and the face of the person with blue to represent the glass between the frog and boy. The frog is reaching with his tongue for a yummy bug. He says he drew this one because he saw me putting together a frog puzzle earlier that day. "

Thanks Tundrachica for this pick-me-up, and thanks to your son for drawing it

11 months down, lots more to go

Today we are 11 months LID....and what does this mean? Well our papers have been registered with the CCAA for 11 months. And how much longer??? Your guess is probably better than mine.

According to our agency (of course we haven't gotten our Places Everyone email yet), we aren't even in the review room yet, and according to Rumor Queen, we aren't even close to going to China to get our darling Chynna.

I try really hard to stay positive during this wait cuz I know at the other end of this wait is our daughter, but sometimes.....

So I continue to wait, and wait, and wait.....

I have been tagged by The Jade Road

I was tagged by "A" of The Jade Road for this meme. After much thought...here it goes!

4 FACTS ABOUT ME:

1. I have one older sister and one younger brother, making me stuck in the middle, but I wouldn't trade this for anything...

2. Without my glasses, I cannot see further than my arms can reach with any clarity.

3. Although I am only 5'0" tall, I am taller than most of my aunts on my dad's side of the family (yup I love being considered "tall", hehe).

4. I haven't always been obsessed with frogs, this obsession only happened about 4 years ago...

4 HABITS I HAVE:

1. Before getting acrylic fingernails, I used to chew my fingernails without realizing I was doing it.

2. When I am reading, I tune out the rest of the world around me.

3. As soon as I can when I get home from work, I check my email (usually even before I eat dinner)...guess I'm afraid I missed some important information while at work...

4. I brush my hair each night before I get into bed, I don't know why I do this, who's gonna see my hair in the dark anyway???

FOUR NEW THINGS I HAVE LEARNED OR EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS

1. I'm obsessed with frogs, enough said...

2. I really want to be a Mom, and badly too.

3. The CCAA will move at whatever pace it wants, and we can't control it in the least bit.

4. Blogging, it really is great therapy, and you "meet" the nicest people who help you through all things good and bad.

FOUR THINGS I WANT TO TRY OR DO IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS:

1. BRING OUR DAUGHTER HOME FROM CHINA!

2. Raise and teach our daughter to the best of my ability.

3. Go on a cruise with our daughter.

4. Maybe go back to school and take a few classes.

Ok, I'm supposed to tag eight people for this. If you don't want to accept the challenge, it's cool--but you will live with the guilt for the rest of your life...

1. Cindi
2. Debbie
3. Doris
4. Dawn
5. Elisa
6. Emmie
7. Julie
8. Tundrachica

Really sweet gifts from "Aunt Sue"

I've been seeing those really great "brown eyed girls" tshirts you all have gotten for your little girls, and I was feeling a little left out...so off to Tarjay I went in search of one for my little girl, and couldn't find one...I looked online...and again no such luck...but then I figured, hey it's gonna be a while before Chynna comes home so I'd have time to find one...I'd be patient (heck, I'm getting lots of practice at that right?)...and lo and behold..."Aunt Sue" (a really dear friend of my mom's and mine) found one for Chynna at Tarjay. She said it was the only one there and that she was willing to fight the other women in the store for that one if it was necessary (thank goodness it didn't come to that, hehe). I love it Aunt Sue and can't wait to see Chynna in it!!!

Then while she was at Tarjay, she had a ladybug sighting and just couldn't pass it up...what a great find!! This adorable ladybug rain coat!!! the hood is just darling...and the ladybugs on the sleeves...and the spots...so very sweet!! Aunt Sue you spoil our baby girl rotten and she's not even here yet...she's so very lucky, thank you!!

Passing on the ickies

Germs, cooties, yuckies, ickies, whatever you call them, it downright stinks when you catch it....

First Ray caught it (seemed like he had a cold, with a wicked cough), then my Dad came down with it (more flu-like symptoms for him), and then yesterday afternoon....my throat started getting sore, my nose getting clogged up, my ears hurting....yup it appears the ickies have been passed on.... and I caught em....

Why is it that you catch the ickies when you try sooooo hard not to???? Darned germs partying in my body!!! Well, just for that, I'm gonna visit the Dr.'s office and send those ickies a'packin'.

Here's to a healthier today!!!

10 Childhood Memories Meme

Jade Road tagged me with the 10 Childhood Memories meme going around. So I have reached far back into the depths of the memory banks and these are the 10 I have come up with...

1. Every weekday in the summer my mom (who doesn't drive far) driving us to Grandma's house for lunch, Grandma being the amazing woman that she was would make all three of us grandchildren a different lunch if we so wanted (it was like Grandma's cafe...) all the while making Mom and Grandpa lunch too.

2. And speaking of Grandma, we would go swimming almost everyday, and Grandma would put on her swimming cap (it used to crack us up) and she would get into the pool and "doggy paddle" down to the deep end to the diving board, hold on to it and do her kicks, and then "doggy paddle" back to the shallow end of the pool and then patiently play "volleyball" with us or float around the pool in her floating lounge chair.

3. Then before we all left Grandma's we would sing this song (which my very creative mom made up, she is quite good at the original songs...) that went like this: Goodbye Grandma Goodbye, Goodbye Grandma Goodbye, We'll see you again, Tomorrow is when, Goodbye Grandma Goodbye!!

Now mind you, we can't sing all that great, but we were loud and proud, and Grandma would get angry and tell us to stop, that the neighbors could hear, but each day, we would sing to her!!

4. Growing up, you would usually find me hanging out with the neighborhood boys (there weren't any girls in our neighborhood), and we had this tree on the side of the house with this amazingly thick branch that stuck out and had this huge hole in the center of the branch...well the boys dared me to do a flip out of the branch, which I did successfully, unfortunately my younger brother tried to imitate me, without as much success as I had. Not long thereafter, Dad cut down the branch...

5. And speaking of my younger brother, I remember teaching him to ride his bike without his training wheels (well not really teaching him, my parents did that), I would run along side him holding onto the back of the bike and then let go and he did great riding and riding...I went inside to get my parents to show them my brother riding all by himself, and we watched him run his bicycle right into the side of a parked school bus...no worries though he was okay and got right back on that bicycle and rode again!!

6. Growing up I used to play softball (since I was 5) and went to lots of softball games during the summer...those sodas after the game were always a big hit, waiting in line to get a "suicide" (you know the sodas with all sodas mixed together).

7. One summer my mom took us to the YMCA (this is where we took swim lessons), and this particular time I had to dive off the high dive. I remember looking down and thinking "I can't do this" and "this is too high" but I just dove off and loved it, wanting to do it again and again...

8. Each summer for a few summers when I was in my pre- and early teens, our family would go to Fontana Dam, North Carolina and rent a cabin. We would go to the pool most every day, and man oh man what foxy lifeguards. I remember "falling" for one of the lifeguards, who really was interested in my older sister (rightfully so...), and getting my feelings hurt that he didn't even know that I existed (really tickles me now to think how I tried everything to get him to notice me)...

9. In Fla. we have lots of lizards. Well my brother and I would catch the lizards, and sometimes we would put them in a cardboard box under my brother's bed (we even went so far as to punch "air holes" in the lid. Everyday we would feed them (or so we thought) BB-Q potato chips (hey they would open their mouths and lock down on the chip, what's a kid to think???). Sometimes they would "escape" the box (if they were lucky enough), and Mom would wonder why we had "so many lizards" running loose in the house....(guess the secrets out now, Mom reads my blog)...hehe

and finally....

10. I know this one will shock you guys....in the backyard of our house where the condensation pipe leads out of the house toads would gather. My brother and I would go out to that particular spot and pick them up and hold them, play with them, whatever. But this particular one day, my sister came out to play with the toad, held it over my head, and it peed on my head....my sister still gets a kick out of this one, as does her son my nephew. I wonder if that is where my obsession came from???

These are just a few of the memories I can think of. So now I am passing the game onto: Dawn, Nikki, Stacy, and Gina

DESSERT PERSONALITY

DESSERT PERSONALITY

Now don't cheat on this one, go with the first dessert you choose!!! If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose (sorry, you can only pick one!) Trust me....this is very accurate. Pick your dessert, and then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.

After taking this dessert personality test, send this e-mail on to others, but when you do, be sure to let me know how you did.

Here are your choices:

1. Angel Food Cake

2. Brownies

3. Lemon Meringue
4. Vanilla Cake With Chocolate Icing
5. Strawberry Shortcake

6. Chocolate on Chocolate

7. Ice Cream

8. Carrot Cake

No, you can't change your mind once you scroll down, so think carefully what your choice will be.............

OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what the research says about you...

SCROLL DOWN---No Cheating

1. ANGEL FOOD CAKE -- Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

2. BROWNIES -- You are adventurous, love new ideas, and are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction. You tend to be very loyal.

3. LEMON MERINGUE -- Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

4. VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING -- Fun-loving, sassy, humorous, not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life!

5. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE -- Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people, can be counted on in a pinch and expect the same in return. Intuitively keen. Can be very emotional.

6. CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE -- Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh!

7. ICE CREAM -- You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

UPDATE: Oops I forgot to tell you guys what I chose....well it was a brownie of course!!!
